The screen is divided into three sections: the description of the event (top left), the timeline (bottom left) and the map (right). There are also various navigation buttons on the top and bottom of the screen.
You can use the + and – buttons at the top left corner of the map to zoom in and out.
Nottingham Timeline is a website that allows you to see what memories and historical events have taken place in the area over the years, both on the map and on a timeline.
The timeline format provides an open online resource that collates long-term historical and topographical data, changes in the infrastructure provision, stages of urban development and regeneration and, most importantly, tangible and intangible values of place identified by the community.
You can also get involved by adding your own memories and historical events from your community to the map.
The Nottingham Timeline is developed as part of the TURAS project.
TURAS stands for Transitioning Towards Urban Resilience and Sustainability. The "TURAS" initiative brings urban communities and businesses together with local authorities and researchers to collaborate on developing practical new solutions for more sustainable and resilient European cities.
Nottingham has a regeneration plan in place aiming at promoting high quality, sustainable buildings, landscape and public places, establishing a high quality urban environment for a range of residential, commercial, leisure and business activities; creating an integral sense of place and image, using common design themes and public realm treatments; providing safe routes and a comfortable environment for pedestrians and cyclists through the careful juxtaposition of building frontages, providing natural surveillance and a strong urban sense of place; and providing integrated, safe and coherent links to adjacent neighbourhoods, in particular to the Meadows, City Centre, Waterside and East Side.
